Versatile in situ remediation system

Control the conditions
In order to stimulate the natural attenuation capacity, soil conditions must be optimized. This is why BioSoil developed a special installation. This installation consists of a fine-meshed grid of infiltration and extraction points that can be controlled separately from a central control unit. Because of the separate 'fine tuning' this system makes it possible to very accurately steer the conditions in the desired direction. For example, accurately dosed amounts of Ph regulators, electron donors, nutrients and other additives can be inserted into the soil at any desired depth at each individual infiltration point. The pumping and infiltration rates can also be easily regulated. Beforehand we perform some tests in our laboratory to determine the exact possiblities and optimal conditions in the soil on the location. Click here for more information on these test.

Aboveground purification
If required, the in situ remediation system can easily be expanded with aboveground bioreactors or other purification installations for the remediation of extracted groundwater.

Monitoring and regulation
The continuous flow of groundwater through the control unit makes it possible to accurately monitor the interesting parameters as well as the progress of the remediation operation. The BioSoil monitoring equipment uses state-of-the-art technologies so that the monitoring can be viewed via the Internet 24 hours a day. Any changes that may be required can also be administered by remote control.

Small space required
The standard housing for the control unit is a small, vandal-proof container that can easily be installed in a corner of the site. In case of remediation operations under structures or infrastructure the unit can also be installed underground or in the basement of a structure.

Robust
The entire system is very robust, so that normal activities can be resumed at the site after its installation. This also allows for integration of the remediation system in the construction of an office, a block of houses or business premises.

New contract in Chile
At the end of 2010, BioSoil acquired in Chile a new contract for an on-site remediation. The contract is for the on-site biological remediation of soil contaminated with Phenol. The contamination was caused by the earthquake that hit Chile in 2010, as...

Soil remediation in Chili (Update)
Last summer BioSoil International, through its subisidary BioSoil Chile SpA, succesfully finished the remediation contract of 72 contaminated former drilling pits for oil and gas production/exploration. This year the results in the last pits will be verified...

Thermally Enhanced mobilization and reductive Dehalogenation of a VOC Contaminated Site
ABSTRACT: A pilot VOC remediation is executed in a residential area in The Netherlands. The aim of the pilot is to investigate the efficiency of thermally enhanced mobilization and reductive dehalogenation and to reach groundwater target values of 20 μg/L for PCE, 262 for TCE, 10 for cis...
