It may be useful to conduct a pilot investigation somewhere between laboratory scale research and a full-scale remediation operation. In the event of a pilot, a small-scale remediation operation is conducted, based on the proposed techniques, preferably at the heart of the contamination. The extent of a pilot is about
100 m², so that a reasonable volume can be treated. At this scale, side effects do not hamper the assessment of the results. On average a pilot lasts six months and the monitoring is attuned to this period.
The division of the tasks is agreed upon per pilot. For example, the realization may be in the hands of BioSoil R&D, while the monitoring is conducted by the client. Subsequently the results can then be assessed by BioSoil R&D.
