Hans Hofmeester
BioSoil uses the services of an independent third party, health and safety expert Hans Hofmeester, both to formulate and implement its Health and Safety plans. He is quite satisfied with how BioSoil handles the rules and regulations.
Supervision
A Health and Safety (
HAS) plan includes a description of the measures that are intended to ensure implementation of a specific soil remediation operation without any particular risks for employees, neighbours and the environment. Hans Hofmeester, an employee at ‘De Grondslag’ consultancy in Kamerik, is involved in formulating, checking and supervising
HAS plans for soil remediation operations almost every day. He has been supervising this aspect of BioSoil’s operations for quite some time.
Health and Safety (HAS) plan
"Nowadays BioSoil advisors draw up the
HAS plans themselves and sent them to me for inspection. I correct the plans and adapt or augment them where necessary. I usually do not have much to say. I also supervise the implementation and the realization of the
HAS plans at BioSoil soil remediation operations.
This begins with giving advice. Subsequently, I inspect the site and check to see whether all safety measures included in the
HAS plan have actually been taken. I also instruct the designated BioSoil expert, the so-called
DLP, who will be present at the site during the work. The
DLP works under my responsibility, monitors the quality of the surrounding air during the operation and ensures safe and sound execution of the work.
My compliments
The
DLP immediately informs me when he is faced with a situation for which his knowledge is inadequate or when preset action values are crossed. If necessary, I personally come to the site. BioSoil prudently handles the formulation and implementation of
HAS plans; its employees are also well aware of their importance. That is why I believe that BioSoil does exactly what it should be doing. And believe me, I do not pass out compliments easily. I see things happen in other ways.
Excellent track record
Drawing up and implementing
HAS plans looks much easier than it is in practice. The legislation offers considerable leeway for private initiatives. Sometimes consultation with the labour inspection agency is required. That is when the track record of the contractor is important. And BioSoil has an excellent track record, which makes consultations with the labour inspection agency a lot easier. The number of inspection visits is also indicative. The work at BioSoil remediation operation sites is not inspected very often anymore. Apparently they also trust BioSoil.”
